Being named Roaster of the Year is more than an award—it is a reflection of our team's relentless pursuit of perfection and our community's unwavering support. It inspires us to continue innovating, educating, and delivering extraordinary coffee experiences to our customers around the world.

Roaster of the Year – The Story Behind The Barn
It all began in 2010 in Berlin’s Scheunenviertel in Mitte. Our founder, Ralf Rueller, discovered his passion for coffee and opened his first café. Inspired by nature and clarity, The Barn became a gathering place for the community to enjoy high-quality specialty coffee in peace.
Fifteen years later, The Barn has grown into an international brand. We now have 13 cafés in Germany (11 in Berlin, 2 in Munich), along with locations in London, Palma de Mallorca, South Korea, and Dubai.
Roaster of the Year – Quality Without Compromise
“We are not here to please everyone; we are here to celebrate specialty coffee at the highest level,” explains Ralf Rueller. The Barn focuses exclusively on carefully selected single-origin coffees, uncompromisingly roasted to highlight each bean's terroir.
Inspired by the Japanese tea ceremony, filter coffee is hand-brewed and served without milk. Our guests are encouraged to slow down and savor each cup mindfully.

Roaster of the Year – Sustainability at Heart
Sustainability is a core value at The Barn. We build long-term relationships with farmers and support them with fair pricing and shared development goals. Our initiative “The Barn Forest” in Brazil has seen over 28,000 trees planted since 2020.
“We’re not just buying coffee; we are committed to building a better future for coffee at its source,” says Ralf.
Roaster of the Year – Diversity and Exclusivity
With over 100 single-origin coffees per year, The Barn curates unique, seasonal experiences for coffee lovers. Our Low Caf program features naturally low-caffeine varietals like Laurina and Aramosa—perfect for those seeking a delicious alternative to decaf.

Jury’s Conclusion
The Barn has proudly earned the title “Roaster of the Year 2025” through unwavering dedication to quality, customer experience, and sustainability. We are deeply grateful to Crema Magazine and our entire community for this incredible recognition. Here’s to continuing our mission: setting new standards in specialty coffee, in Berlin and beyond.
