In the village of Murago, Bekele Kechara owns a small farm of just 1.5 hectares. Due to the typical cooperative-based production in Ethiopia, single farmer lots are still exceptionally rare. A focus on specific heirloom varietals lets Bekele curate unique expressions of flavour. This expressive, naturally processed lot is a standout of the season.

This lot is a beautiful expression of natural processing in Ethiopia, with ripe berries and elegant florals. Expect blueberry, strawberry, and red grape, with top notes of bergamot and lemon zest. A silky texture carries plenty of sweetness, with smooth hints chocolate ganache on the finish.
For over two decades, Bekele Kachara has been dedicated to growing coffee on his small farm near the village of Murago, building on years of experience managing farms and working across different washing stations in the Sidama region. Working with his wife, Mrs. Abinet Mekonnen, and four children, Bekele has become renowned in the region for exceptional coffee.
Bekele focuses on specific heirloom varietals, such as 74158, 74112, and 74110. At elevations on up to 2400m, these unique coffees thrive in the clay soil, surrounded by an array of indigenous shade trees.

With a focus on naturally dried coffees, Bekele carefully curates individual lots. The coffee is harvested when deep red, before cleaning and pre-sorting. The whole cherries are then dried on raised African beds until the optimal moisture content is reached.
