Tropical Fruit. Chocolate.
Innovative Colombian flavour, now in decaf.
Our Funky Decaf brings a sweet and vibrant cup profile to the world of decaffeinated coffee. This anaerobic fermented Natural Decaf from El Vergel Estate in Tolima, Colombia offers tropical fruit notes, banana bread sweetness, and a juicy, expressive character. Created for those who want all the flavour and complexity of specialty coffee without the caffeine.
For many years, we said no to decaf. Today, a new generation of decaffeination is changing that: Using a natural sugarcane EA process, caffeine is gently removed while preserving sweetness, structure, and the coffee’s vibrant flavour profile.

This is a decaf that goes beyond the familiar, offering a lively and expressive cup with impressive depth. Anaerobic fermentation brings vibrant fruit character and enhanced sweetness, balanced by a silky body and clean finish. Expect layered notes of ripe berries, tropical fruit, and soft caramel, supported by a refined acidity that keeps the cup bright and refreshing. The sugarcane EA decaffeination process preserves the coffee's natural complexity, making it an excellent choice for both filter coffee and espresso coffee without compromising on flavour.
El Vergel Estate is run by brothers Elias and Shady Bayter alongside their mother, Marta, in Fresno, Tolima. Originally an avocado farm, the family recognised the potential of their land for specialty coffee and began cultivating coffee in 2012. Situated on the slopes of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, the farm benefits from a distinctive microclimate that supports exceptional coffee production. What began with Caturra and Castillo has evolved into an impressive collection of varieties, including Tabi, Pink Bourbon, Pacamara, and Gesha, reflecting the family's ongoing commitment to exploring the full potential of their unique terroir.

After harvest, whole coffee cherries undergo 48 to 60 hours of anaerobic fermentation, encouraging greater fruit intensity and sweetness before drying in two carefully controlled stages—first on covered raised beds, then mechanically to ensure consistency.
Once dried, the coffee is decaffeinated using the natural sugarcane Ethyl Acetate (EA) process. Ethyl Acetate, derived from Colombian sugarcane, gently removes caffeine while preserving the coffee's structure, sweetness, and distinctive origin character. The result is a vibrant decaf with exceptional clarity and flavour, retaining the qualities that make this coffee unique.
Finally a decaf, that doesn’t taste like the other decafs! I pulled it as a flat white with oat milk and it was absolutely amazing. Fruity flavors of grapefruit and the banana bread sweetness was on point. I kept the temperature at 92 degrees and made it as a slayer shot with flow profiling. This will be my home decaf for a while!
I have been looking for a decaf for an occasional evening filter without compromising too much flavour and I found it here. Smooth hazelnut chocolate with enough tropical fruitiness to crave the next sip.
Never liked any decaf but this one blew me away!
Amazing flavour, works insanely well with milk
