We are very happy to bring back this amazing coffee. We visited Justin earlier 2016 and noticed the strong community building around the coffees - all focused on one thing: Making the coffees better.
We chose Lot #58 this year - the best we had on the table. This coffee is reminesce of Cocoa nibs spiced with nutmeg. A cherry sweetness pops through it’s truffel mouthfeel.
Mahembe is located in the Nyamasheke District, Western Province. Justin was born on the farm and returned to it after the 1994 Genocide. He began revitalizing the 11,600 tree coffee plantation and, in 2008 he decided to process his own cherries instead of selling to neighboring washing stations. In his first year of full production, Mahembe's coffee took 4th place in the Rwandan Cup of Excellence competition.
