A Coffee Exchange Between Berlin and Athens
Great coffee brings people together, across cities, cultures, and borders. Through our Guest Roaster Program, we celebrate like-minded roasters who share our passion for quality, craftsmanship, and discovering new flavours. We are excited to welcome MOTIV Coffee from Athens as our newest guest roaster. As part of this collaboration, four of their coffees are being served at THE BARN Checkpoint Charlie, while our own coffees are making their way into the cups of coffee lovers at MOTIV's cafés in Athens.
Two cities, two roasters, and one shared passion for great coffee.
Story behind MOTIV
What started as a neighbourhood coffee bar in Athens has grown into a space for curiosity and experimentation. With two locations in Exarcheia and Pagrati, MOTIV has built its identity around exploring what coffee can be, while keeping the experience welcoming and approachable.
From rare coffee varieties and innovative processing methods to experimental brewing techniques, the team is constantly looking for new ways to bring out the best in every cup.
What we particularly appreciate about MOTIV is their ability to combine this curiosity with simplicity. Whether someone is looking for their everyday espresso or wants to discover something completely new, their approach remains the same: great coffee, carefully prepared, without unnecessary complexity.

Our Guest Roaster Program is an opportunity to bring these different perspectives together. By exchanging coffees, we invite our communities to experience new roasting styles, discover different flavour profiles, and enjoy coffee through another roaster's perspective.
From Athens to Berlin
For this collaboration, we are bringing four selected MOTIV coffees to THE BARN Checkpoint Charlie. Each offers an opportunity to explore the character and diversity of their roasting approach. Meanwhile, guests visiting MOTIV in Athens can enjoy a selection of THE BARN coffees, connecting our two cities through a shared appreciation for exceptional coffee.
