The Chemex was invented by chemist Peter Schlumbohm in 1941 in Chicago, USA. With an understanding of how to perfectly extract both flavour and caffeine, Peter set about designing a coffee brewer that combined function and form.

The result was a coffee brewer that not only makes delicious coffee but is also beautifully designed: it has since earned a place in MoMA's permanent exhibtion in New York.
