Arabica Coffee was planted in Tanzania at a larger scale under German colonialism back in 1911. The country has great potential for quality coffee simply by improving its processing in a well managed environment. Sambewe is located in the South West of the country, on the border of Zambia. The region is known for coffee, tea, cacao and spices. This coffee has an exciting profile with flavours of plum, raspberries, cherries and raisins. High vanilla sweetness and a black tea finish.
Sambewe is a group of 54 farmers forming an Agriculture Cooperative Society. Parts of this coffees proceeds will go to project Coffee Club, organised by our partners Nordic Approach. The aim is to improve the future for the kids in the region we are buying coffee from, and increase the quality of the coffee in this region long term. High school students will be educated on how to run a specialty coffee plantation as well as agronomy and accounting training.
