Burundi is a very fertile country despite ongoing deforestation. In our favourite region, Kayanza, coffee growing conditions are extremely good. The Nimu Silas peaberry impressed us most with taste notes of mandarin, oolong tea, sweet plum, and sugar cane. The silky mouthfeel is typical for Burundi, where double-washed processing produces very clean cup profiles.

We are sure you remember the coffees we bought from producer Salume Ramadhan in the past - Mbirizi, Sehe, or Muruta. His four washing stations are operated in a very organised and controlled manner. Nimu Silas is actually the name of Salume´s station manager.
