Los Ocotes sits on nutrient-rich clay surrounded by pine forests. This incredible coffee was produced in the Comayagua region which benefits from a microclimate that creates unique flavour profiles. Our lot has complex notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, honeydew, floral hibiscus and custard. The acidity is tart and the mouthfeel juicy.
We bought this very special coffee by bidding in the Best of Honduras: Late Harvest Auction. Los Ocotes scored in the top five out of a final selection of twenty coffees. The auction was created by our friend Saša Sestic – founder of Project Origin. Typically, coffees from late harvest dont get much attention as they arrive after the main buying season - and they often end up as bulk coffee. With the auction, farmers can present awesome coffees to an international audience - and get very good prices for their coffees. We bought our lot, produced by Nahun Vida Sanchez, at a very high premium.
