THE BARN at Sony Center
Sony Center is one of the most iconic modern buildings in Berlin. It is located in Mitte only a few minutes walking distance from Brandenburg Gate. Helmut Jahn designed the landmark complex as the centerpiece of one of the biggest development sites in Europe at the turn of the last century: Potsdamer Platz. This is the spot where East and West Berlin meet - in the 1920ies the area was known as the Times Square of Berlin.
Today Sony Center is a melting point of entertainment, living and working spaces. We took residence at the more tranquil North Side of the building, facing beautiful Tiergarten that invites for a walk.
The interior design reflects the light glass architecture of Helmut Jahn. The space features an impressive coffee bar with 9 meters in length. The object is built from terrazzo that matches the colour scheme of the interior design. The crafted metal shelving is set to contrast the seating area which is completely crafted from raw oak. The wooden benches extend over the entire height of the wall panels.
The location can seat 35 customers within its 60 sqm, and will be serving hand-brewed filter coffees, single origin espresso variations and seasonal signature drinks. Fresh juices and teas by Paper & Tea are also on the menu. A great selection of homemade sandwiches, cakes and light lunch options will be delivered daily from our own kitchen. The retail shelves are stocked with freshly roasted beans and a range of brew equipment, so you can pick up everything you need to brew at home or at work.
