THE BARN Nordbahnhof
THE BARN at Nordbahnhof is located at the busy intersection of Chaussee- and Invalidenstraße, near Nordbahnhof and Naturkundemuseum. This beautiful cafe can seat 35 customers within its 50 sqm, and will be serving various coffee specialities from 08:00 am until 18:00 pm. These include hand-brewed filter coffees, single origin espresso variations, and seasonal signature drinks such as the beetroot flat white or rooibos spiced flat white. Fresh juices as well as teas by Paper & Tea are available.
The interior design of this historic building includes elements which reflect its architecture and strong foundations. Material features, like the 8-meter-long espresso and hand-brew filter bar made of terrazzo, integrate the original travertine flooring. Raw oak is used for the bar and floating benches. Charles and Ray Eames’ classic design was chosen for the comfortable chairs, which were re-released by Vitra in fibreglass. The feature lighting comprises THE BARN´s classic industrial lamps from the 1940s.
THE BARN at Nordbahnhof will be the first Specialty Café in Berlin to go completely cash-free. While this is still uncommon in Berlin, this pioneering move is inspired by metropolitan cities abroad that have already adopted a cash-free way of life.
