The Berlin Coffee Festival started 5 years ago and it is indeed very special. A huge variety of satellite events are happening across the whole Specialty Coffee Community in Berlin; sharing knowledge, experiencing coffee and getting together.

We will be at the heart of it all, offering a great range of special lectures, workshops, panel talks and the famous Comandante Cup. This is the best time to visit Berlin - make sure you book your tickets early!

OUR WORKSHOPS

We have put together a great program of hands-on, practical workshops that will take place at The Roastery and our Trainings LAB. You will learn from our baristas and trainers everything you need to know about how to make the perfect espresso, latte art or roasting.

Be the first to have a coffeeflight with our Berlin Coffee Festival Project Coffee 2019. The Costa Rican project coffee will be featured across all our locations specifically for the Berlin Coffee Festival week. Be the first to receive this coffee in three different ways: V60 / Espresso / Flatwhite.

Our Sony Center location is the latest addition to our café locations in Berlin. Come by, relax and enjoy the launch of our Festival Coffee 2019.

INSPIRING TALKS

Marta Dalton - Talk on Sustainable Coffee Farming

To kick off the first day of the festival, we are hosting a talk from Marta Dalton, founder of Coffee Bird, one of our coffee partners in Guatemala. Marta has built a platform that focuses not only on growing high-quality coffee, but ensuring a sustainable future along the supply chain too - all the way from the coffee picker to the barista.

A look at sustainable farming in ethiopia

We welcome our export partner BELCO, who have invited a number of farmers to join them this year at the Berlin Coffee Festival. This presentation will focus specifically on the different flavours profiles we can expect from Ethiopian coffee. A specific focus on one origin will allow for a deep dive into the differences found across regions and processing styles.

Explore Berlin with THE BARN. Visit our fantastic locations throughout Berlin and settle down for a drink. Each café will reward you with a stamp, the first 50 to fill the passport with all the stamps will win a prize; including a very special prize for the first person to complete the challenge!

We will be offering free cuppings in our different locations across the city. We will cup The Barn’s latest roasted coffee each day at 12pm according to the following schedule:

farm relationships in rwanda: david rubanzangabo, huye mountain

David Rubanzangabo, owner of Huye Mountain washing station, will present his farm’s latest experiments with processing. Earlier this year we featured some of the first natural coffee to be exported from Rwanda! Learn first-hand how David’s team worked to develop and elevate their processing.

Pairing Natural Products: Coffee, Wine and Cheese

Coffee fans love to bring up the fact that Coffee has more flavour components than can be identified in wine. Let’s put that to the test. This event will compare and contrast similar flavour profiles found in high-quality coffee and wine, with some cheese as a bonus!

GERMAN COMANDANTE CUP

We are honoured to announce the fourth German Comandante Cup hosted in Berlin.
Competitors prepare and serve one individual beverage with 10 minutes of preparation time and 8 minutes serving time. Each competitor uses only whole bean coffee provided by THE BARN and hand grinders provided by COMANDANTE.

GEAR SWAP PARTY (WITH DRINKS & BBQ)

Bring your (working) second hand coffee gear to this event and find a trading partner! This is a platform for coffee lovers in the Berlin community to find a new life for their neglected brewing equipment, and maybe take something new home. Drinks and a BBQ will be available!

MARKET DAY

The festival culminates in a big Market Day on Sunday, the 6th of October, 11AM – 18PM, at the historic Markthalle Neun. Explore the offerings of more than 30 roasters, including The Barn. We will be showcasing our coffees, hand brewing, and talking with excited coffee lovers. Also, be sure to catch our slot on the espresso booth from 11:30 - 15:30.

Unwind with us after the market day with a final festival drink at our cafe just off the Maybachufer. Close out a busy week with a relaxing drink at our Neukolln cafe - just a short 15 minute walk from Markthalle Neun.
