Low-caf is our Answer to Decaf
On our quest for a lower caffeine solution, we discovered this naturally grown, low-caffeine varietal - Laurina. This Arabica Bourbon mutation contains only 0.3%–0,5% caffeine. Regular Arabica beans typically contain around 1.4% or more. Being naturally low in caffeine means that we do not have to alter Laurina in any way, which allows its rich natural flavour to shine through. This coffee features pronounced notes of guava and almond, rounded out by a creamy mouthfeel.
We were delighted to discover that our partner Daterra had been studying the Laurina varietal for the last 12 years. Using genetic materials in their research field they were able to examine the way the plant adapted to their terroir. Now they have Laurina trees planted on a few plots of their farm, making these microlots possible.
